Description DSHS WSH Institution Counselor 2 As an Institution Counselor at Western State Hospital, you will use your critical thinking and counseling skills to improve the lives of patients with Behavioral Health challenges.

Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate.
Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
Some of what you'll do: Lead or co-lead active treatment group activities Promote recovery principles in all interactions and clinical interventions with patients Complete required documentation: progress notes, treatment objectives, attendance sheets and conference input Attend individual treatment plan conferences as assigned Responsible for completing or assisting in nursing care as defined by Western State Hospital, WSH nursing department and ward policies Provide assistance or perform as needed health and hygiene tasks Implement and document treatment interventions as directed by individualized treatment plans What we're looking for: One year as an Institution Counselor 1; OR A Bachelor's degree preferably involving major study in sociology or other social science; or satisfactory completion of two years of college, preferably with emphasis in one of the social sciences and two years' experience in mental health or social casework; AND One year of social service experience.
Graduate training in behavioral social science may be substituted for experience.
OR Equivalent combination of education/experience.
NAR and/or NAC required.
Current Agency Affiliated Counselor Credential (or equivalent) with the Washington State Department of Health is needed within 60 days of employment.
