is seeking a part-time paralegal with a minimum of three years’ experience in estates, trusts and probate matters.
Familiarity with Washington State law is a plus.
Familiarity with business entity formation and transactions and real estate transactions is a plus.
We are a growing small firm located in Washington State’s San Juan Islands, with a sophisticated multi-jurisdictional business and estate planning practice.
We represent mid-size business clients, and individuals and families with complex estate planning needs, throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond, as well as providing services to local small businesses, non-profits, and smaller estates.
This is a 100% remote position (though the successful candidate will have the option to work in the Lopez Island office occasionally or regularly if the employee prefers).
Expected workload is 20 to 30 hours per week (50% to 75% FTE), with a flexible schedule.
Annual salary range $42,500 to $63,750, plus benefits, and home office expense reimbursement (phone, internet, etc.
).
Compensation is based on a full time salary of $85,000/year, and is dependent on the number of hours actually worked.

*Responsibilities:* - Prepare draft documents for attorney work related to estates, trusts, and probate matters, also some business entity formation and related documents, and real estate transaction documents.
- Finalize documents and file with the court (often San Juan County Superior Court or other probate court) - Communicate with clients and potential clients - Prepare and draft correspondence including letters to clients regarding next steps in estate planning and probate - Business formation, annual reports, and dissolution - Review client documents and input information into shared database - The office does not engage in litigation, but occasionally a probate matter will require a hearing.
For hearings, the paralegal will prepare hearing binders, ensure all documents have been filed with the court with courtesy copies for the judge, and ensure all necessary parties are served.
*Experience:* - Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal working with estates, trusts, and probate matters.
Experience with business formation and transactional documents a plus.
*Skills:* - Proficiency in drafting legal documents, with attention to detail - Familiarity with filing and e-filing requirements in probate matters - Familiarity with Lexis or similar legal research tool - Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures - Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with attorneys and administrative staff Only qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview.
