87” Tall Case Grandfather Clock.
Broken Arch pediment bonnet (swan neck) with rosettes and three brass spire finials.
Made of solid mahogany.
This clock was made circa 1780/Arabasque dore’ oro gilt on the frieze of the entablature.
Marine scape and landscape with two moons on the painted dials.
The painting on the arched dial is crazed (a fine network of cracks) which is a sign of authenticity.
The wood on the base of the plinth matches the rest of the clock although the bottom of this long case has been cut.
The trunk-center section has a door allowing to adjust the pendulum and fit the weights.
The original hinges on the trunk have been replaced.
The spire finials which are still in tack (and easily lost) are in pristine condition.
The provenance records are impeccable.
Made in the manner of the Willard family.
