The Purchasing Agent is responsible for overseeing all department functions of the purchasing and submittal process.
This position oversees the acquisition of materials and goods for company operations.
This position encompasses strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and optimizing procurement processes to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
*Develop an appropriate procurement strategy to maximize customer satisfaction at the lowest possible cost.
*Optimize Inventory levels to minimize carrying costs while meeting customer demands.
Forecast and anticipate demand to ensure adequate stock and timely delivery of products.
Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers, negotiate contracts and terms to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
*Maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors, managing performance and resolving issues effectively.
*Oversee the movement of goods from suppliers to the organization and from the organization to customer and retail locations.
*Manage distribution processes to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
*Monitor and control inventory levels, ensuring appropriate stock to meet demands.
Implement inventory tracking systems and methodologies to optimize stock levels.
Continuously analyze supply chain processes to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.
*Implement best practices to streamline operations and reduce costs when possible.
*Identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain, such as disruptions, price fluctuations, or supplier issues.
*Lead, mentor, and manage a team involved in all organizational procurement functions.
Assist in other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Previous Experince Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field or job function.
Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably for a floor coverings/tile company Comprehensive knowledge of flooring products.
*Preferred* Proven success at building long-term relationships with vendors, customers, and co-workers.
Technical Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications.
Strong negotiation and networking skills.
Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
Ability to gather and analyze data, discuss financial statements, demand forecasts and other models.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands *Mobility: Purchasing Agent should be able to move around the office space comfortably, walking between departments or areas as needed throughout the day.
*Lifting: Occasional lifting of office supplies or materials (up to 25 pounds) might be required when restocking supplies or organizing storage areas.
*Sitting/Standing: Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods while working on a computer, conducting meetings, or performing administrative tasks.
The role may also require standing during meetings or when interacting with staff or visitors.
*Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and other devices is essential.
*Visual Acuity: Clear vision for reading and analyzing documents, as well as operating computer screens and other office equipment.
*Communication: Ability to verbally communicate with team members, clients, and vendors in person, via phone, or through electronic communication devices.
*Adaptability: Flexibility to work in different office environments, handle occasional moderate noise levels, and adapt to changing work demands.
*Driving/Transportation: The Purchasing Agent may be required to attend work functions on off-site locations or visit vendor locations.
Reliable transportation is required.
