In this role, you will support our customers within the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) of DSHS.
You will provide expert advice, guidance, and consultation to appointing authorities, managers, supervisors, and employees regarding performance management, just cause principles, internal investigations and disciplinary actions, grievance processes, conflict resolutions, classification and compensation, diversity issues, layoff process, FMLA, leave, etc.
Consult with the Assistant Attorney General (AAG) as necessary regarding legal implications.
We are looking for a team member who will provide effective consultation while efficiently managing competing priorities, responsible for resolving sensitive or complex issues while exhibiting excellent communication and customer service skills.
We offer a hybrid schedule for this job where some of your work will be performed on-site, while other days may include remote work.
Some of what you’ll do.
Consultation with executives, managers, and supervisors in assigned programs for employee performance management, labor relations, workforce planning, reasonable accommodations, layoff/reversion process, protected leaves, and all other human resource management personnel functions.
Provide consultation to management on a wide variety of sensitive, complex, and critical human resource issues.
Provide high-quality, expert-level human resource advice and services on a variety of topics including Collective Bargaining Agreements, Washington Administrative Code interpretation, Revised Code of Washington, Federal Laws, and DSHS Program/Policies/Procedures.
Draft correspondence includes responses to complaints, communication records, grievance responses, feedback memos, and oral reprimands as well as disciplinary documents such as written reprimands and pre-disciplinary letters.
Research, interpret, and clarify rules, regulations, and policies.
Provide advice on reporting specific courses of action, guidance, and assistance in conducting and documenting administrative investigations.
Assist management, employees, and HR Representatives with answers to questions.
Conduct audits of work performed by HR Representatives Consult on classification issues with managers and supervisors.
Who should apply? A bachelor's degree with a focus on business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or related field AND two years of professional human resource experience.
OR Equivalent education/professional HR experience may substitute, year for year, for required education.
(Professional human resource experience means working full-time as a human resource professional performing human resource functions) Preferred HR experience includes these knowledge, skills, and abilities: Quickly learn about assigned business areas to become a trusted and strategic business partner.
Consult and coach leaders to address issues appropriately to reach the best outcome.
Approach problems with the philosophy of providing risk-based advice with options.
