The Kent, WA corporate office of Seattle-Tacoma Box Company is looking to add a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Assistant to our team.
The ideal candidate for this position will be someone who has a baseline knowledge of Human Resources Generalist functions and responsibilities, excels working in a demanding and fast paced environment and demonstrates excellent prioritization, decision making and time management skills.
Superior administrative and organizational skills possessed by the candidate are a cornerstone requirement for this position.
*Job Summary:* The Human Resources Assistant supports and facilitates the human resource processes as designated by the corporate Director of HR.
The key ongoing functions and primary focuses of this position will be administrative assistance related to policy creation and dissemination, form creation, correspondence creation and editing, records organization, and retention, HRIS system navigation and upkeep, multi-location training calendaring, meeting scheduling and employee engagement.
This newly created role assists employees with HRIS system access and usage, assists employees with company policy and employee handbook language interpretation, facilitates recruitment and retention efforts, and provides information to employees related to leave.
The HRA processes company specific HRIS onboarding completion, wage changes, shift, schedule, and supervisory changes as necessary.
The HRA also assists in the facilitation and implementation of employee engagement and incentive programs.
This role provides administrative and clerical HR related support to the Director of HR, performing HR related tasks including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a progressive work history with a HR Generalist background.
_*Duties/Responsibilities:*_ * Perform administrative duties, such as sort incoming correspondence and emails for the HR Department * Maintain proper paper and electronic records of employee leave * Edit and format draft employee policies for publication * Coordinate orientation and training session(s) for new hires * Ensure consistent communication with employees and timely resolution to their concerns * Assist employees in identifying and accessing resources * Performs internal customer service functions by addressing employee questions and responding to employee inquiries * Knowledgeable in the use of E-Verify and the completion of Form I9 * Assist in the facilitation of annual open enrollment and conducts benefits audits as necessary * Uses HRIS Recruiting module to post positions, conduct initial review of applicants, run background checks, and facilitate hiring * Schedules in-person interviews as requested * Tracks status of applicants and maintains communication with applicants throughout the recruiting process * Facilitates the new employee onboarding process and conducts day one new employee orientation related to benefits and company plans * Gathers required information to submit to corporate human resources to substantiate employee FMLA leave * Attends weekly status/issues meeting with Director of HR and General Manager * Makes photocopies; mails, scans, and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions related to Human Resources * Electronically files documents into HRIS * Assists and/or prepares correspondence as requested * Performs other related Human Resources related duties as assigned _*Required Skills/Abilities:*_ * Proficient working knowledge of Human Resources principles, concepts, processes, applicable state laws and FLSA regulations * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Excellent interpersonal and employee relation skills * Well organized with high attention-to-detail * Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines * Adherence to strict confidentiality * Ability to function well in a high-paced and demanding work environment * Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite * Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment * Excellent analysis and ability to perform effective research, reach conclusions and report findings * Ability to assess and respond or elevate an issue as necessary * Familiarity and comfort operating HRIS software required – Prior use of Paylocity preferred _*Education and Experience:*_ * Two years HR related experience required * Course work in Human Resources through certificate or university courses strongly preferred, but not required.
* Multi-state HR Generalist exposure/experience is preferred * Desire to obtain PHR and/or SHRM-CP credential(s) preferred, but not required _*Physical Requirements:*_ * Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer * Must be able to walk around our large plant to participate in employee engagement * Must be able to occasionally lift up to thirty pounds _*Reports To:*_ * Director of HR _*Supervisory Responsibilities:*_ * None _*Hours of Operation: *_Seattle-Tacoma Box Company’s normal hours of operation are 7:30am – 4:00pm Monday through Friday.
