Summary: The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing nuclear medicine procedures, maintaining departmental standards in accordance with policies and procedures and keeping up-to-date knowledge on new techniques and procedures.
This position works under limited supervision independently performing Nuclear Medicine testing.
Procedures performed require independent judgement, initiative, ingenuity, and strict adherence to radiation safety management guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform nuclear medicine procedures, in accordance with policies and procedures.
Calculate, prepare, and administer radioisotope doses in diagnostic procedures.
Question and investigate unusual findings.
Maintain rapport with patients and staff.
Maintain records of isotope acquisition, inventory, disposal, work areas monitored, equipment, spills, and contaminations, if any.
Assist in establishing, performing and maintaining record systems of all radiation area surveys, leak tests, wipe tests, calibration of instruments, records and receipts of incoming and outgoing shipments of radioactive materials.
Apply ALARA principles to ensure appropriate radiation safety for self, staff, and patients.
Evaluate patient for pregnancy and/or breastfeeding prior to exam as indicated.
Create/input required electronic medical records (EMR) documentation of all services provided and prepare all required paperwork for billing and administrative purposes in a timely manner.
Perform clerical procedures to include answering phones, billing and notification of interpreting physician.
Maintain clean and orderly work area by ensuring equipment is clean, rooms are stocked with linens and supplies.
Promote teamwork and cooperative effort.
Understand and apply appropriate quality assurance and improvement processes.
Assist in the training of in-house staff, students, and new employees.
Assist Technical Director and attends required CEU to maintain registry status.
Rotation to multiple sites as needed.
Travel is required.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Expectations: Arrive to work on time and ready to work at the start of the shift; does not abuse or take advantage of sick time or personal days; takes corrective action to prevent recurring absences.
Demonstrate willingness to assist co-workers whenever needed.
Maintain a good working rapport with all patient-care personnel and other departments requiring frequent interaction and coordination of efforts.
Adapt to altered working patterns whenever needed.
Communicate concerns and problems through proper written and verbal channels.
Demonstrate a consistently well-organized approach to all assignments and duties, as designated.
Observe the clinic dress code.
Greet patients in a courteous and respectful manner; responds to patients with empathy and positive interpersonal skills; and consistently handle all requests in a positive manner.
Deliver care that is safe in conjunction with the physician orders, and department standards at all times.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Certified with the State of Washington Department of Health Current American Heart Association BLS/CPR Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Email software.
Have the ability to operate basic office equipment such as telephones, computers, fax and copy machines.
Language Ability Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
